life in the wilderness...

I will run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.
- Psalm 119

gayly bedight, a gallant knight
in sunshine and in shadow
riding along, singing a song
In search of El Dorado...

Flip the Switch at City Light Church!

so my friend Dennis Kang is working on church plant in the South LA area near USC. Great vision for the city and community there!

Check it out - they've even got a website already! : http://www.citylightchurch.org

They've got their first preview service on Sunday, June 5th at 7pm.

I'm bummed that I can't make it (I'll be starting a Bible Translator camp that day - just a 1 week deal to see what it's like), but if you've got time - go check it out!

first recital & espn2!

so my first recital went well. I made a couple very small mistakes, but it was okay. I was more relaxed than I thought I would be. I think the confidence & humor of others before me helped.

The first group of people to go were singers.

The very first guy had to start over a few times cuz his song had him singing so fast.

There was another old man who sang "Yesterday" by the Beatles. He almost moved me to tears and made me really happy with his unabashed joy when he was done. He made two fists and held them saying "yeah!"

Then there was this gal near the end that talked a bit about helping people & being like Jesus and sang a Steve Camp-ish song about people "Selling Watermelons" (seeing the broken people doing stuff like selling fruit, etc). I was thinking to myself - THAT's what it means to be a "salt & light" - to be Christian in "unsalty" places - like a junior college recital.

So anyways, thanks for your support! =)

Then, in the evening, I went to the Dodgers game tonite with the IC (Immanuel Chapel) small group guys. The game was very empty, so we moved down to the bottom of the upper deck, right next to the TV cameras.

We were goofy enough that apparantly, we got put on a couple of times on ESPN2!! Let me know if you saw us. Steve's (Mateo) gonna tivo the evening showing for me to see if we show up. The cameraman got us being all disappointed after HeeSeop Choi flied out with the bases loaded. So disappointing.

But yeah, I was on TV, baby! C'mon TIVO!

first recital

so I'm playing in my first recital tomorrow.

yup, at age 33, I'm playing in my first piano recital and I'm nervous.

we practiced in class today & I was just drawing blanks! I'm so money at home with this little waltz piece my teacher picked out for me, but up there, argh! Now I know how Rick Ankiel feels. Maybe I'll move to the outfield, too.

It's funny, I asked these other two students in class if they were nervous and they calmly shook their heads and said "nope". A couple of 19 yr old girls have more composure than I do! ouch! haha

But I do get to play on a grand piano - pretty nice! I'll let you know how it goes...!
