Dodger Stadium!

So I've finally had the chance to watch the Dodgers in Dodger Stadium! It was momentous! (but not so much as to buy a $30 tshirt! tho I was tempted, I have to admit! afterall, I spend that much on a U2 Vertigo T)

It's funny, I'm a Dodger fan, I grew up in SoCal, but all these years, I'd never been there. I've had the chance to see games at Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Wrigley Field, Candlestick, PacBell Park, and Anaheim Stadium, but never Dodger Stadium.

A variety of reasons; for one, when I was younger, I was as much an Astros fan because of Nolan Ryan as I was a Dodger fan; two, I lived in OC and my folks weren't much on going to sporting events, so never made it up to LA. After that, I was up at college & living in the Bay Area.

Beautiful park! Full of tradition. Huge. Not as 'cozy' as some of the other parks, but it's got history! Looking out to those two scoreboards, I couldn't help but think of Kirk Gibson and Dennis Eckersly...

This year's looking pretty good! (well, until this last week they were) But overall, still very good! Go Blue!!

Happy Birthday ALCC!

so the church I've been going to celebrated it's 20th anniversary today. the service was this wonderful array of laughter & tears as they recalled the history and testimonies of people who's lives have been changed by God thru this community. it was just really, really neat.

and it turns out that this was an answer to prayer. one of the things I'd been looking for in a church was tangible evidence of God's working thru the people there in deep ways - usually visible only thru testimonies (unless I was there the whole time to see it unfold).

Today, there was a story of a woman who (a long time ago) went thru a divorce, was a single mom, found help & support at this church, and eventually met her current husband there. Another shared of how he came in so burdened by his previous works-oriented theology and learned freedom & grace at ALCC (I almost *really* lost it while he shared as he was trying to contain himself).

And the congregation gave a standing O for the assistant pastor and some gifts to the head pastor (a 4 nite stay at a hotel up in Santa Barbara and a set of new Ping golf clubs! this church is aiight!).

Very heart-filling day of worship - and I'm not even an old member here! I think that's evidence that the day was all about God's faithfulness & glory in the lives of his people. Kinda like rewards in heaven. I imagine that people who've been there 10, 20 years had bigger, fuller cups, but my cup was filled as well as I heard tell of God's working in and thru His people.

A good day, capped off by going do a flower park w/ my folks & then going shopping afterward. Got my first pair of Puma shoes! Way cool.

my buddy Harold & his wife SunHi just welcomed their second child into our world on Wed, April 6! Her name is Elizabeth Meesun Kim! Welcome Elizabeth!!

My cousin had his first child, a son, a couple of months ago, Justin Lee.
My other cousin (his brother, in fact) had his second child, a son, not too long ago, too!

And another friend is expecting, and there's two other friends I heard were pregnant, but I haven't called them in awhile so they may have popped out by now.

Procreation, baby! All my friends, being fruitful & multiplying! =) haha

I got to hear from Harold's first daughter over the phone - just hearing her voice is crazy cute, man, I must say.

One Shining Moment

UNC - Illinois game was a great one. I still love the video montage they put together at the end to the song "One Shining Moment" - the song is cheezy, but it totally reflects the heart of the tourney. Gotta get into coaching somehow...

U2 concert was amazing! Great entertainers. I've heard some criticisms about Bono's performance & the band's being a bit "off", but I couldn't tell and came in with humble enough expectations that it was just plain awesome to hear them sing live & to hit the special ones - Streets, Yahweh, 40. Historic.

Went golfing w/ Mateo last friday - he took me out for my birthday. I'm glad I've got golf - good way to connect w/ friends & family even.
