My heart feels a little bit swollen today, longing as it were, for a sense of connectedness. (maybe my heart feels this way because I played basketball today for the first time in many months. haha. Okay, that killed the mood pretty good, ay?)
I got to thinking about my blog, wanting to write about what's going on in my life and "how I'm doing", and realize I've recently had conflicting purposes for it. Do I want to be entertaining? enlightening? engaging? funny? personal? useful?
Browsing around, I find a variety of blogs/xangas - daily thoughts, funny stories from the day, poetry, political ideas, pictures of babies, etc. All of these pull me in different directions in terms of getting ideas from sites I've enjoyed reading - for whatever reason. I can see now what writers (and other expression-related fields) call the whole process of "finding your voice".
I find myself wanting to write in two main threads. The main one is simply to keep in touch with friends - this being the original reason for this blog.
The other has been a more recent development - it's a bit of a blur, but something I touched on a little while ago (in fact, changing my title for), and that is to write about these ways that I'm experimenting with my life. A sort of wandering journal of insights gained from reading and experiments. Posting book reviews, quotes, & experiences.
I've seen some friends have "side-blogs" - perhaps I'll do that to have better "parking spots" for my writing. Ok, there's some "pee-gohn-heh" (tiring) thoughts as to why/why not have a separate blog that I will spare you all. We'll see..
haha, ok, so much for catching up. I've ended up writing about what I want to write about. Reminds me of something I read about becoming a counselor/therapist. One thing on the list of "you need to be..." is to enjoy "thinking about thinking", which is something I certainly do. Whether I'd enjoy doing that as a career awaits to be seen.
ok, good nite everyone.
