life in the wilderness...

I will run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free.
- Psalm 119

gayly bedight, a gallant knight
in sunshine and in shadow
riding along, singing a song
In search of El Dorado...
- Edgar Allen Poe

Driving down to LA tomorrow with Daybear. Home where I have no internet. Bummer. BUT, lots to look forward to as I take a bit of a winter break: URBANA!! George & Jenny's wedding. Seeing friends & family, golfing, reading, writing.

I'm just glad I can EAT freely now! Most of the pain is gone. I got a cool little squirty thing to shoot water into the back holes in my mouth - amazing how much stuff gets stored in there! Praise God for this little syringe/squirty thing! =)

Ok, everyone - Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Ah, the advent of my Jesus here on earth...so much to absorb & reflect on in that and the turn of the year. One hand of deep thinking, one of hand of relaxing and having a good time. Sounds like a good holiday to me!

God bless us, every one! =)

okay, I just gotta say, this wisdom teeth pulling pain has just been nasty this week! I can eat, but my jaw & cheeks get all crazy sore afterward! argh!! then, at night, when I get all tired, the sides of my face & head start to throb in pain. ah, yes, time for some drugs! haha. maddening pain!

I think the aching when tired part is my fault, tho. This week, I saw Cats on tuesday nite, I saw Lord of the Rings and then hung out at Denny's afterward on wed nite, small group potluck and crashing at Eugene's on thurs nite, and tonite I visited Phil & Nikki's new home and drove them to the airport for a late nite flight. Good times! It's just cost a little more this week then normal. =\

Jaepil, sounds like some awesome adventures! you gotta tell me how to do it, I'm hoping to be doing the same in a few months/for a few months. Can't wait to catch up.

stuff's happening so quick that I can't even process or give them their due. but here's a quick list (these things deserve so much more writing)...

This past Sunday was Rev Cho and Pastor John's last one at KCPC. Rev. Cho & family are going to Korea, PJ & family are going to Arizona.

Saddam Hussein was captured. Amazing.

I just got an email that a church friend's father passed away.

Today was the anniversary of some close friends' mom passing away.

Carolling last Sunday at a hospital - got to see lots of very old, very injured people. made me want to savor life & risk more in order to really *live*...

Even seeing Cats, the musical today. Kinda weird & psychadelic at times, but the singing of Memory at the end of each half made it worth it. That too, a song on the reflection of the happiness & beauty of a time past; yet with a sort of hope of the future, too.

Ugh - so much heavy stuff. I'll write about other stuff later.

ok, it's been awhile since I last wrote. (sorry to my faraway friends with whom i keep in touch via blogging) =) I wanted to be able to tell people about my work decision in person before writing about it on the www, you know?

I'm a little out of it right now, tho cuz I got my wisdom teeth pulled out on friday morning. I know it's Sunday, and I've totally not had it bad as others have, but today was just *really* tiring! Didn't get any sleep last nite, and not eating all day today has me pretty zoned out. But I do want to thank Alice & JungHo - Alice for driving me back from the surgery and for nursing me all day friday. Hyung for stopping by the next morning and dropping by yogurts & soups. Dang, God's given me great friends!

Ok, but the big news is that I've done it. I decided to stop working at Oracle. I turned in my letter of resignation last last friday (11/5) and have my last day set for Jan 31st. I've got so much to share about this decision. About my basis for the decision, the process itself, the varying states of mind I've been in (ranging from excited about the future to a "what are you thinking?!" kindof reaction), and my plans going forward.

I remember emailing a friend and saying this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
well, you asked how I was doing so I figured I should at least let you know what I'm up to. I'm gonna be quitting work, selling/renting out the condo, going on a 'round the world vacation, then I'm gonna move in with my parents for awhile as I look into a career change.

Man, now that I write it like that, it sounds so ridiculous! Like I'm totally joking, huh? but it's true! I turned in my letter of resignation last friday and I'm set to be done at Oracle at the end of Jan. Pretty nutso, but it's time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

so that's a summary. more later on the more 'internal' stuff.
the wide range of reactions has been astonishing - anywhere from "you're my hero!" "it's great to see you go after your dreams!" to "are you sure?" "what?! with no backup plan?!" all kindsa neat thoughts & readings on this matter of calling, career, vocational identity, work, dreams (both figurative and literal!). till next time...
