UPenn or Tufts?

I am seriously going crazy trying to make up my mind between these two schools!

Oh, btw - I got into both! Praise God! It's amazing that I'd get in anywhere, let alone these two great programs. In the big picture, I know that either one will be a great experience and that God will work thru it.

But in the meantime, I have to make up my mind & it's driving me nuts!

I don't want to get into all of it, but here's a rough synopsis:

Tufts class size: ~160
Penn class size: ~120

Both cost insane amounts of money (~300k over 4 years)

Tufts trains better clinically for general practice right out of school.
(good for me as I'll be 39 when I finish & will want to go back to having an income asap)

Penn sends more people into specialty programs.
(which would be good in the event that I decide to specialize)

Penn's more 'prestigious' as an Ivy league school (albeit, a lesser one & often mistaken for Penn State) Go Nittany Lions! haha

Tufts is in Boston while Penn is in Philly. Most say Boston is a more hip town and some say I'd have better chances of meeting my type of gal there.

Penn has international externships available in the 4th year - Ghana, Thailand, Fiji, etc

I have family in Boston - a cousin at Tufts dental, a cousin at Harvard dental, and a cousin at Harvard extension; and a mentor/friend not too far in Maine

Philly's only 90min from Manhattan where my sister is at.

To be totally honest, I think my feelings say Penn while my mind says Tufts. Feelings for prestige, a smaller class size; mind in that I'll likely end up being a general dentist, no one really cares or even knows where their dentists went to school; but I'll care....sort of....

...i'm neurotic

only 5 months later...

heh heh, I think I lost all of my readership; but for anyone who happens to drop by, here's where I've been the last 5 months & the latest goings on

the last few months of 2006 were spent doing these:
- working at the dental office in santa monica nearly full time
- taking 3 classes at night
- took the DAT in december
- filled out my dental school applications & secondaries
So needless to say, I gave up most all of my social life except for church on Sundays

More recently, life has slowed down & I'm slowly regaining some sense of life. So now, here are the latest updates:
- just taking one class at ookla on tues nites
- just recently stopped working at the dental office (i'll go in a day or two here & there when they're shorthanded)
- i'll be working as a contractor for an internet startup www.rotohog.com so I can pay off my debt (selling my body on the streets of software)
- I may be a bone marrow match (i registered in school back in 1991! and they found me!)
- I've got my first two dental school interviews! (Tufts in Boston; and UPenn in Philly)

In fact, that's where I'm writing from right now. I'm on a little east coast swing where I visited a friend in Maine, dropping by Boston and Philly, and then visiting my sister & other friends in NY. I'll let you know how the interviews go...

AAAAaaaaanyways, so that's been my life the last six months. I'm hoping to also catch up on other ppl's xangas & blogs too... Let's play golf! or basketball! or softball or volleyball!! anything active...! time to live a little
